During 2023–2025, the defendants stored and sold counterfeit products in Kyiv and Lviv regions, illegally using Duracell’s intellectual property. The counterfeit batteries were sold at low prices, misleading consumers. The losses caused to the company amounted to about UAH 1.6 million.
«The 'products' did not undergo any safety checks and potentially posed a threat to consumers. The sale took place on an industrial scale under the guise of products from world brands,» the National Police noted.
It is reported that the scheme’s perpetrators used professional equipment, independently printed the printing and packaging with the logos of famous brands.
«During power outages, counterfeit batteries can fail at a critical moment, as they do not guarantee stable operation of devices. Therefore, BEB consistently fights against their illegal circulation,» the Bureau commented on the detention of the fraudsters.
