The President of Ukraine announced that telecommunications repeaters used by the Russian army to coordinate its attacks on Ukrainian cities have stopped working in Belarus. The equipment has not been functioning since June 22, which effectively means the fulfillment of the ultimatum previously announced by Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the corresponding statement during a conversation with the media. According to him, the information about the deactivation of enemy equipment has already been officially confirmed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainian intelligence.
"There are a lot of questions about Belarus: what is happening, what about the repeaters, whether they are working or not. So, according to the available information that the Chief of Staff reported to me, as well as intelligence, since June 22, the relevant repeaters have stopped working on the territory of Belarus. Whether they have been dismantled or not, I, to be honest, do not know yet. But we are working on this, and I am monitoring it very closely and receiving daily reports. The fact is that the repeaters are not working today," the journalists quoted the head of state as saying.
As a reminder, on June 19, Volodymyr Zelensky publicly issued an ultimatum to Alexander Lukashenko . He gave him a week to remove Russian and Belarusian repeaters located on communication towers along two regions bordering Ukraine.
The president emphasized that this equipment directly directs fire at civilians. In case of refusal to turn off the equipment within seven days, the Ukrainian leader promised that the Defense Forces would destroy these objects themselves.
