A free IT school for adults has opened in Odessa — without traditional lectures and teachers. Student recruitment has begun
The kood/Odesa project has been launched in Odessa, offering adult Ukrainians free access to learn the IT profession from scratch. Up to 100 students will be able to start training in the first wave.
The kood/Odesa project has been launched in Odessa, offering adult Ukrainians free access to learn the IT profession from scratch. Up to 100 students will be able to start training in the first wave.
There are no lectures or teachers at kood/Odesa — students develop real software together with colleagues from day one.
"Training takes place according to the peer-to-peer model - instead of traditional lectures with teachers, participants work in teams, independently master the materials, exchange knowledge, and solve practical tasks together," the Ministry of Digital Affairs explained .
How to become a student
Anyone over the age of 18 can apply for the program. Priority during selection will be given to veterans, internally displaced persons, and women returning to the labor market or changing their professional direction.
The first stage of the selection is the Selection Sprint. During the three-week practical intensive, participants get acquainted with the school's approaches, test their own skills, and complete tasks in a format that is as close as possible to a real development environment.
Participants who pass the Selection Sprint will join the main annual training program, which starts on September 1.
What does the program entail?
The program consists of two stages:
the first six months — mastering the basics of programming and backend development;
The next six months are spent working on product development and choosing a specialization.
kood/Odesa is implemented by the public organization Tuleviku Tehnoloogiaharidus with the support of the Government of Estonia and the Estonian Center for International Development ESTDEV in partnership with the Faculty of Cybersecurity and Information Technologies of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" and the Odesa IT Family cluster.
