The White House memorandum states that a Chinese company provided the People’s Liberation Army of China with technological capabilities that threaten US security.
The document also alleged that Alibaba gave the Chinese government and the Chinese military access to its customers' data, including Internet Protocol addresses, Wi-Fi information, payment records, and artificial intelligence-related services.
«The allegations and insinuations in the article are completely false,» an Alibaba spokesperson said in response to a Bloomberg News inquiry.
The company questions the «motivation of the anonymous leaker,» adding that «this malicious PR operation clearly came from fraudsters seeking to undermine President Trump’s recent trade deal with China.»
In addition, the Chinese embassy in Washington accused the US of «distorting the facts» regarding these claims, stating that China is merely improving laws to protect personal privacy and data in artificial intelligence activities.
