«We want to have a model that every business, every educational and state institution could use for free. But its creation is a fairly large resource for which we currently do not have the opportunity to receive money. And Kyivstar, let’s say, proactively volunteered to help,» the deputy minister explained, answering a question from a dev.ua journalist.
Bornyakov emphasized that the agreements with Kyivstar include that this language model will be available free of charge to government agencies and educational institutions.
At the same time, as for commercial companies, according to the Deputy Minister, the access conditions will already be determined by Kyivstar itself.
«As for commercial institutions, they will decide at the time of testing on what terms they will provide it. Perhaps someone will also want to test and improve together. Or perhaps someone will say: 'I just want to take it and use it.' But it’s money. After all, even every request — you know, it costs something,» added Oleksandr Bornyakov.
Meanwhile, CPO Kyivstar.Tech Mykhailo Nestor reminded that after testing, this LLM will be presented as an Open Source model, available to everyone.
«It will be deployed and trained on separate data sets — for state needs on its own, for the Ministry of Defense — on its own, for commercial projects, for example — for telecom, retail or finance — on its own. That is, these are separate tracks,» Nestor noted.
Let us remind you that today it became known that the Kyivstar company will directly deal with the creation of the Ukrainian national LLM, plans for which the Ministry of Digital Affairs announced in March.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that the national LLM will be trained on Ukrainian data, will understand the national context, dialects, and terms, and on the basis of the national LLM, AI products for the state and the defense sector will be launched .
