BraveTech EU is the first large-scale technological alliance between Ukraine and Europe. The partnership will take place on equal terms - each party will allocate half of the amount.
"Today at the URC, together with the European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, we announced the launch of an important initiative for the defense sector — BraveTech EU," wrote the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov.
The project will be coordinated by Brave1 on behalf of Ukraine, while the European Union will coordinate the program through the European Defence Innovation Office (EUDIO), based in Kyiv. Funding will be provided by the European Defence Fund (EDF) and the EU Defence Innovation Scheme (EUDIS).
The Alliance plans to invest 100 million euros in defense technology development. Each side will allocate 50 million euros for the creation and implementation of new developments.
The program includes:
joint projects;
hackathons between Ukrainian and European companies and technology testing;
grant support for defense startups;
integration of Ukrainian defence tech into the European market
direct cooperation between Ukrainian and European companies.
BraveTech EU will be implemented in two phases. This fall, partnerships will be established, hackathons focused on frontline needs, R&D funding and technology testing will be planned. Next year, additional resources will be raised to provide grants to startups and participate in the EU Defence Innovation Scheme business accelerator.
