Two more cases were recorded in drones that attacked Sumy region back in April 2026, the SBU press service reported. Counterintelligence and investigative agencies discovered dangerous radioactive components during the study of the wreckage of enemy drones directly at the sites of the strikes.
According to law enforcement officials, the enemy is now systematically adapting R-60M air-to-air guided missiles as warheads for drones. The examination found that these missiles contain depleted uranium warheads with a total mass of 2,810 grams. Experts identified the radioactive isotopes uranium-234, uranium-235, and uranium-238.
During the work of the investigative and operational group and specialists of the State Emergency Service at the «arrival» sites, the level of gamma radiation from the wreckage of Russian modified drones was 8.3 and 10.5 μSv/h.

«These indicators significantly exceed the natural radiation background and pose a direct threat to human health,» the SBU emphasized.
All detected dangerous components have already been neutralized by specialists. Currently, the SBU is conducting a pre-trial investigation under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).
Due to the high toxicity and radioactivity of depleted uranium, Ukrainians are urged not to approach or touch missile or drone debris under any circumstances, and to immediately report any findings to rescuers, police, or the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Let us recall that in April of this year , the SBU already exposed the facts of Russia’s use of radioactive drones during attacks on the Chernihiv region.
