Intel CEO responds to Trump's call to resign, receives board support
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has responded to Donald Trump’s public demand that he resign over alleged ties to China, saying the US has been his home for more than 40 years and that he is ready to work with the government.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has responded to Donald Trump’s public demand that he resign over alleged ties to China, saying the US has been his home for more than 40 years and that he is ready to work with the government.
As reported on Intel’s official blog, former US President Donald Trump’s recent statement demanding Lip-Bu Tan’s resignation prompted an official response from the Intel CEO.
«The United States has been my home for over 40 years. I am grateful for the opportunities this country has provided me, and I consider working at Intel not just a job, but a privilege,» said the head of Intel.
Tan noted that he immigrated to the United States more than four decades ago and the country has provided him with significant opportunities. He called working at Intel a privilege and emphasized the company’s strategic role for national security and the US economy.
The CEO denied allegations about his previous roles at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems, saying they were presented with a misinformation bias. He said he had always maintained high legal and ethical standards.
He also assured that he was ready to cooperate with the US administration to clarify the facts, and expressed respect for the president’s role in ensuring national security.
Intel’s board of directors expressed its full support for Tan and his plans to transform the company, which include:
reduction of about 33,000 employees by the end of 2025;
the completion of several projects on which billions of dollars have already been spent;
launching mass production using the latest technologies, which should strengthen the US position in the semiconductor industry.
Lip-Bu Tan will lead Intel in 2024 after decades in venture capital and technology. Public calls for his resignation from Donald Trump come amid rising tensions between the United States and China over high-tech, particularly chip manufacturing.
We also reported that the well-known American corporation Intel warned that it may stop developing its next-generation chip, known as 14A. This will be a heavy blow to the company, which is already going through difficult times.
