The CEO of Ukrainian NORDA Dynamics compared the emergence of an autonomous drone swarm to nuclear weapons

Nazar Bihun, head of the Lviv startup NORDA Dynamics, which is working on the technology of autonomous control of drones in electronic warfare conditions, considers a swarm of autonomous drones to be a weapon more effective than nuclear weapons.
«In my opinion, the monster is a swarm of autonomous drones. And the side that gets this technology first will have a new nuclear weapon. Moreover, a much more effective weapon than a nuclear one, which does not leave behind radioactive debris and does not destroy all the infrastructure; with which you can simply clear the area in a matter of minutes, leaving the environment almost intact,» says Bigun.
In September, NORDA Dynamics, a Ukrainian developer of autonomous control systems for drones, successfully completed a $1 million financing round. The lead investor was the Swedish investment company Varangians, launched in 2025. The company will direct the funds to the development of new products that will increase the autonomy of UAVs.
«We need these funds to significantly increase our team, which is currently happening. We are a very R&D-intensive company, a very large percentage of our expenses go to R&D,» Nazar Bigun commented on the investment.
He added that the company has begun developing another product that «solves very, very important problems for our country.»
According to Bigun, autonomous drone swarms could appear in no more than five years, or perhaps sooner, thanks to the development of large language models that become «smarter and help you write code faster.»
«And another important stage of development or an important consequence of this development is that there is currently a shortage of pilots, and we are doing everything so that one pilot can build missions with 10–20 drones. We understand that it is impossible to completely remove a person from the first line of defense, unfortunately. But I see development in minimizing human participation, so that it is rather engineers who control the robot,» noted the head of NORDA Dynamics.
