Ukraine wants to introduce time and financial limits for gamblers
The Ministry of Digital Affairs, together with PlayCity, launched a public discussion of the draft order "On establishing limits on a player's spending on gambling and the time a player can spend on gambling." What limits are proposed to be established?
The Ministry of Digital Affairs, together with PlayCity, launched a public discussion of the draft order "On establishing limits on a player's spending on gambling and the time a player can spend on gambling." What limits are proposed to be established?
According to the draft order, it is proposed to establish the following limits on a player's spending on gambling:
1. in casino gambling establishments and in slot machine halls no more than:
during the day — 20% of the player's average monthly income;
during the week - 30% of the average monthly income;
during the month - 50% of the average monthly income.
2. in online casinos no more than:
during the day - 15% of the average monthly income;
during the week - 25% of the average monthly income;
during the month - 40% of the average monthly income.
In addition, they plan to set the following time limits for a player's participation in gambling:
1. in casino gambling establishments and in slot machine halls no more than:
during the day - 8 hours;
during the week - 24 hours;
during the month - 36 hours.
2. in online casinos no more than:
during the day - 6 hours;
during the week - 18 hours;
during the month - 27 hours.
The document also states that limits are set by the player for a day, week, or month at a time. Spending limits can be changed no more than once a month.
A player's continuous gaming session is limited to two hours, after which a mandatory break of at least 15 minutes is required. The game time starts from the moment the player places the first bet and is counted to the nearest second.
PlayCity emphasized that similar rules are already in effect in the EU, Canada, and the USA.
