OpenAI has launched Astra for Law, a special version of its latest GPT-6 Astra model for legal work. It will be able to search for court decisions and laws, prepare legal opinions, and work with internal data of law firms.
OpenAI has added a special legal search to the model and configured it to analyze and write legal texts. On this basis, law firms and legaltech companies will be able to create their own AI tools. For example, a lawyer can describe a client’s situation and ask the system to find similar cases. Astra for Law will search among court decisions, laws, regulations, court rules and administrative decisions of the United States, and then be able to compare what it finds with the circumstances of a specific case.
Astra for Law can also analyze the found materials, compare facts with precedents, look for weaknesses in the argument, and explain how individual provisions of the contract can change the risks for the parties.
Initially, GPT-6 Astra Law will be available to individual law firms through the Trusted Access program in ChatGPT and Codex. Later, the model is planned to be open via API, where it will be called gpt-6-astra-law. Along with the model, OpenAI is launching 26 partner plugins for legal work. Through them, ChatGPT can be combined with specialized services such as iManage, Intapp, DeepJudge, and Thomson Reuters products.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that Google launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a platform with AI agents for law firms and internal legal teams.
