“My 11-year-old sister can’t count how many seconds are in 3 minutes without ChatGPT,” complains an older brother on Reddit. How do parents react to this?
Gen Alphas can't do anything without ChatGPT, says a Reddit user whose 11-year-old sister uses the chatbot to do all her homework, even basic math like converting 3 minutes to seconds. It seems like parents don't understand the seriousness of the situation.

Reddit user Alone_Yam_36's younger sister is in her last year of junior high school and uses his ChatGPT account, so the guy can see all his correspondence with the bot. Which, to put it mildly, shocked him.
"She never does it herself, she doesn't even read what ChatGPT responds to. She just stupidly copies and pastes, and Squid Game plays in the background," Alone_Yam_36 shares .
A girl does all her homework using ChatGPT. For example, she asks the chatbot to complete each math problem on 2 sheets of a notebook.
"Even simple ones like counting how many hours there are in 1 day and 7 hours. It's that simple: 24 + 7, and she asks for this chat without even trying to solve the issue," the author of the post writes.
Another example is a reading homework assignment. A girl asked a chatbot to write a simple 150-word poem and answer a question. She got a well-structured answer to the question, but it was long, so she asked the AI to shorten it. And even when ChatGPT made the answer literally into 1 sentence, she still asked to shorten it, turning it into 7 words. Then she copied everything without even reading it.
“If a lot of elementary school kids are doing this, the future is bleak. Listen, Gen Z can write and reply, but they don’t use chat because they’re lazy. Gen Alpha will need it because they can’t do anything on their own,” concluded Alone_Yam_36.
After the boy shared his thoughts with his parents, he was even more shocked.
“Their response is even more heartbreaking,” the boy wrote. “My dad said it was just a new way of learning (even if she wasn’t learning anything) and that it was better than not learning at all. My mom seemed a little more concerned, but she didn’t say she was going to do anything specific and moved on to another topic.”
Since the guy didn't get the desired reaction, now he asks the question, what can he do in this situation as an older brother?
Ситуація з часів появи ГДЗ… не змінилась?.. Учнів необхідно мотивувати здобувати знання… А списувати всіляке що-попало, яке їм нецікаво вони вміли у всі часи.
