ChatGPT has identified 20 professions in which it can replace humans. Are IT specialists on the list?
This week, OpenAI launched Deep Research, a feature that can analyze content from across the web into a single, detailed report in minutes, using the o3 AI. ChatGPT took 7 minutes to examine 24 sources and determine which jobs AI could replace humans in.
This week, OpenAI launched Deep Research, a feature that can analyze content from across the web into a single, detailed report in minutes, using the o3 AI. ChatGPT took 7 minutes to examine 24 sources and determine which jobs AI could replace humans in.
User X Min Choi asked Deep Research to list 20 professions where OpenAI’s o3 reasoning model could replace humans in a table format. The post has already garnered 1 million views.
After deep-diving into 24 sources in seven minutes, Deep Research created a table that included job titles, an explanation of why AI is better than a human in that role, and the likelihood that the position will be replaced. Choi shared a link where you can read the table in detail.
The profession of tax consultant came in first place with a probability of replacement of 98%, writes ZDNET. ChatGPT explained that artificial intelligence will cope better with this task because it can quickly process tax rules and calculations, which would make it faster than a human. In support of its argument, ChatGPT emphasized that there is already an AI-based tax software.
The remaining professions mentioned in the list were named in the following order:
data entry operator,
telemarketer,
accountant,
paralegal,
meeting planner,
virtual assistant,
stenographer,
corrector,
copywriter,
support representative,
email marketer,
content marketer,
social media manager,
translator,
technical support analyst,
recruiter,
marketing research analyst,
travel agent,
tutor.
All of the jobs offered by ChatGPT share a common core theme: the role relies heavily on technical skills that AI can perform on its own. For example, AI can efficiently transcribe, translate, and proofread, making the need for humans to perform these difficult job skills less important.
Another thing AI can do well is analyze large amounts of data, draw conclusions, and even take action based on its own analysis. Therefore, jobs that are at the heart of this process, such as social media manager, recruiter, travel agent, market research analyst, meeting planner, accountant, and paralegal, are considered more at risk.
Does this study mean that everyone in these industries will lose their jobs? No, that’s unlikely. ChatGPT’s analysis only considers the ability of AI to effectively perform complex skills. However, soft skills, including communication, critical thinking, conflict resolution, leadership, time management, and interpersonal skills, are equally important for success, and AI cannot replicate these abilities.
In addition, companies and organizations are not yet ready for the widespread implementation of artificial intelligence.
