On August 6, the Russian Federation recorded a large-scale outage of critical Internet services and mobile communications. Users are massively complaining about the inability to use digital services, download videos, or open web pages.
This is reported by Russian media, citing data from analytical monitoring platforms «Sboy.rf» and Downdetector. The outages affected both the banking sector and the largest e-commerce sites and government platforms.
In particular, access problems arose in the work of Yandex services, Ozon and Wildberries marketplaces, Sberbank and Gazprombank banking applications, Avito classifieds service, RZD web resource, Russian Post, and other digital platforms. Mobile Internet users lost access to search engines, instant messengers, and video hosting.
Mobile network outages have affected dozens of Russian regions. The largest number of complaints was registered in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Problems are also reported by residents of the Krasnodar, Primorsky and Zabaikalsky Krai, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Volgograd, Moscow, Orel, Samara, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk and Yaroslavl regions. Subscribers of local operators note that mobile Internet either works with significant delays or is completely absent.
The official reasons for the mass incident have not yet been announced. Representatives of Russian telecom operators and government agencies are refraining from explaining the timing of the restoration of full access.
