Chinese military company North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) has released new footage of the VU-T10 tracked unmanned ground vehicle during recent tests.
As Defense Blog reports , footage from a promotional video for Chinese television shows an 11-ton robotic vehicle maneuvering through rough terrain while simultaneously striking targets using a remotely controlled turret.
The VU-T10 is armed with a 30 mm cannon and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun. The tank's turret is equipped with batteries of electrically powered smoke grenade launchers for self-defense. The weapons allow the vehicle to destroy light armored vehicles, hit soft targets, penetrate unarmored structures and even shoot down low-flying drones.
According to NORINCO representatives, the system can be equipped with the Red Arrow 12 anti-tank guided missile, which increases the range of the main gun.
The VU-T10 has an electric motor, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 60 km/h. Designed on the principle of an infantry fighting vehicle, the UGV provides fire support and limited transport capabilities for airborne units.
The company has not disclosed any confirmed export customers for the VU-T10. However, Chinese state media reported that NORINCO has offered its unmanned systems for international sale at recent defense exhibitions in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
And although the PRC is actively supplying various equipment to the Russian army, so far this is limited to light vehicles and motorcycles. Recently, soldiers of the 28th Knights of the Winter March Rifle Brigade, together with related units, stopped a Russian attack involving heavily armored "monster tanks" , which took about 60 FPV drones to destroy.
