Columbia University student Eddie Xu has created the perfect chess cheating tool thanks to modified Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with artificial intelligence.
Xu hacked his Ray-Ban Meta glasses to use artificial intelligence to show him the best moves without his opponent ever knowing, Dexerto reports.
«I created chess glasses with artificial intelligence that allow you to play perfect moves without your opponent knowing,» the student said.
He demonstrated how the glasses analyze a chessboard, broadcasting the match on Instagram. The game is displayed on a computer and runs through the Stockfish chess engine, after which a text response appears.

According to the guy, the glasses were made at TeenHacks LI, which is described as «the only active 24-hour hackathon for high school students on Long Island.»
The chess community was amazed and concerned by the technology, with Chess.com calling it «a really cool, amazing piece of work.» Some grandmasters immediately called for a new anti-cheating system.

Wearing such glasses in a regular tournament would be immediately noticeable, but the chess community has never shied away from conspiracy theories when it comes to cheating. For example, American grandmaster Hans Niemann was previously accused of carrying an object that told him moves to beat world chess champion Magnus Carlsen.
Recall that Harvard students previously used smart glasses from Meta to read all the personal information about strangers through facial recognition.
