Anthropic has added a built-in browser to the desktop version of Claude Code. The new feature allows AI to open web pages, read documentation, follow links, click buttons, and interact with site elements without using an external browser.
The new browser runs inside Claude Code Desktop and can be used to perform programming tasks. For example, the AI can independently open library documentation, find the required section, read it and apply the information when writing code. It can also work with design layouts, internal web interfaces or other sites that the user has access to.
According to Anthropic, the browser runs in a sandboxed environment. The user can configure whether the session is saved between launches, which allows you to control access to sites and data.
The update is part of another feature pack for Claude Code. Along with the browser, the service has received a session summary function, new design themes, an improved web interface, and an experimental /ultrareview mode that launches cloud-based AI agents to automatically find errors in code.
In fact, Claude Code is increasingly transforming from an AI assistant into an autonomous agent that can work not only with local files and the terminal, but also directly interact with web resources while performing developer tasks.
