How Claude Duet works and what it can do
Unlike standard chatbots, Duet is a proactive agent. Every day it generates a short briefing with a list of actions based on connected applications and contacts the user only when their direct involvement is required.
Main features of the agent:
administrative tasks — scheduling meetings, processing notifications;
complex engineering and analytical tasks - creating dashboards with dozens of tools, building financial/sales forecasts, prototyping and full-fledged development of web applications;
autonomy — Duet runs on the basis of the Opus 5.5 model in its own virtual machine. It does not require an open tab in the browser — the agent performs tasks in the background;
separate applications — Anthropic releases standalone applications for iOS and Android specifically for Duet.
Pricing and limits
The main advantage of Claude Duet over OpenAI Dots is its availability. Anthropic confirmed that after the full release, the agent will be available as part of the standard Pro plan for $20 per month. For comparison: OpenAI offers similar functionality to Dots only on more expensive tiers (from $100/month).
However, Duet shares usage limits with other Claude tools (including Claude Code). To ensure that users don't run out of quota too quickly, the agent checks connected accounts every few hours, rather than continuously. Users will be able to customize the frequency of notifications and the topics Duet should notify them about.
Privacy and security
Since the agent requires deep integration into the user's digital ecosystem, Anthropic has paid special attention to data protection.
In particular, Duet never directly sees passwords or authorization tokens, and health or personal financial information is only transmitted with the user's explicit permission. In addition, to prevent leaks of sensitive data, the company has implemented a special prompt protection system and additional classifiers.
The company promises to publish a more detailed privacy report in the near future.
Currently, Claude Duet is only available to Claude Pro subscribers in the US who are on the waiting list.
