Xbox Vice President of Artificial Intelligence Fatima Kardar introduced Copilot for Gaming, an AI-powered gaming assistant that will help players with tips and useful features.
She spoke about this on the official Xbox Corporate podcast together with Vice President of Next Generation Jason Ronald.
Microsoft is positioning Copilot for Gaming as an assistant that will accompany players in games and offer tips, tricks, and useful information. Sonali Yadav, product manager for gaming AI, demonstrated several use cases for Copilot for Gaming.
One of them involved the concept of how Copilot helps the player in Overwatch 2 by coaching them on the mistakes they made when trying to get ahead without teammates. In the Overwatch 2 demo, Copilot also recommended good heroes to the player that would complement the rest of the team and talked more about the synergy of characters' abilities, detailing their strengths and weaknesses.

Another demo was about using Copilot with Minecraft, where the player could ask Copilot questions about how to craft objects. Copilot sees what’s happening on the screen, so it can guide the player according to their actions in the game. The AI can also suggest where certain crafting materials are located in the game world.

«With Copilot for Gaming, you can get back to gaming faster, get real-time advice, and stay connected… all on your own terms,» said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, during the presentation.
The features shown are still in concept stage and won’t be available when Copilot for Gaming first launches next month. Microsoft will first test early versions of Copilot with Xbox Insiders via the Xbox mobile app in April before releasing Copilot across devices.
Earlier, gaming gadget maker Razer unveiled Project Ava, an AI copilot at CES 2025, which aims to help gamers become better at games. It takes and analyzes thousands of screenshots of gameplay and settings (with permission), and provides real-time suggestions.
