Creative Assembly announced Total War: MEDIEVAL III. The game will receive a new engine
The return to the medieval setting is seen by fans and analysts as a "salvation" for the company after a series of failures, including the failure of the last part of Pharaoh.
The return to the medieval setting is seen by fans and analysts as a "salvation" for the company after a series of failures, including the failure of the last part of Pharaoh.
During the event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Total War game series, Creative Assembly presented Total War: MEDIEVAL III, which returns to its historical roots.
The most important technical news, alongside the announcement of the game itself, was the confirmation that Creative Assembly is working on a brand new game engine called Warcore. This engine is intended to replace the outdated Warscape and is a response to years of complaints from the community.
Warcore is expected to provide better AI behavior and add new capabilities such as destruction of the game environment on the battlefield.
MEDIEVAL III will cover the period between the 11th and 15th centuries. Expected factions and figures include the Holy Roman Empire, Saladin, and the Ottoman Empire.
The second part of MEDIEVAL was released back in 2006 and is considered one of the best games in the series. Since then, the studio has explored various historical periods and civilizations (the most recent of which was Ancient Egypt in Total War: Pharoah), and has also released several games in the fantasy Warhammer universe.
Total War: MEDIEVAL III is currently in early development, so a release date is not yet known. Creative Assembly promises that it will be the best medieval strategy sandbox game.
Previously, the Ukrainian team Farom Studio announced the urban planning strategy Age After Age.
