Czech defense holding Czechoslovak Group (CSG) is expanding its activities and entering the sector of high-tech weapons and unmanned aerial systems. To this end, AviaNera Technologies as was established, which will combine the development, production and sale of UAV technologies.

«Our goal is to become a major player in the field of military unmanned systems and modern weapons. Over the past few years, we have been able to take a strong position in the small-caliber ammunition market. Now we aim to achieve the same result in the field of high-tech weapons,» commented Michal Strnad, owner and CEO of CSG, on the creation of AviaNera.
AviaNera will work closely with Excalibur International as, a CSG group company with extensive experience in managing complex defense projects.
The company will be led by experienced manager Pavel Chehal, who joined CSG after serving as CEO of PBS Group. Under his leadership, AviaNera will focus on rapidly expanding its capabilities in the development and production of unmanned systems and their key components.
«We will fully utilize synergies with other CSG companies, for example in the production of ammunition or the development of software solutions for controlling drones,» explains Chehal.
The AviaNera team is currently negotiating the acquisition of several promising European companies and building partnerships in Ukraine. The company’s top priority is the creation and production of power plants for UAVs — jet, turbofan and shaft engines.
«Today, Ukraine is a key hub for the development of military technologies in the field of unmanned aviation,» notes AviaNera CEO Pavel Chehal.
The name AviaNera symbolically refers to the aviation heritage of Avia from the Czech city of Letná and at the same time reflects the beginning of a new era of unmanned technologies. Given the expected dynamic growth of the defense unmanned systems market and the demand for high-performance, compact and efficient engines, this segment opens up exceptional market potential.
Recall that CSG Holding increased sales revenue in Ukraine fourfold in 2024 — from 0.4 billion euros to 1.7 billion euros. Ukraine became the second largest market for CSG, providing 42,8% of revenue, and almost equaling in value to the markets of the rest of Europe, which, excluding Ukraine, brought in 43,5%.
