The partners announced the joint development at the VivaTech technology conference. According to the developers, for analysis, users will only need to take a picture of the animal with their smartphone camera, after which the algorithms will assess the four-legged animal’s health.
To use the new feature, Galaxy device owners will need to install the SmartThings mobile app and activate the specialized Pet Care service in it. The integration of the tool directly into the smartphone operating system should simplify the process of daily monitoring and make it more accessible to users.
Lifet, a startup that is part of Samsung’s C-Lab Outside incubation program, already has a live web service where pet owners can upload photos for AI analysis. The developers claim that their algorithms are 97% accurate in detecting the aforementioned pathologies.
Samsung is currently actively developing its mobile artificial intelligence, Galaxy AI. Initially, the technology focused on generative image editing, audio transcription, smart search, and real-time two-way call translation. Now, the company is scaling AI capabilities to related areas, including digital medicine, smart home, and pet care.
