“It feels similar to me.” Fire Point CEO compares free data transfer for Palantir to Ukraine giving up nuclear weapons

CEO and CTO of Fire Point Iryna Terekh considers the free transfer of a huge amount of battlefield data to Palantir a dubious step, the effect of which she compared to Ukraine’s refusal of nuclear weapons.

Terek stated this in the Fedoriv Vlog episode, UNIAN reports.

"We need to understand what is valuable in Ukrainian technology. A good example is the transfer of our data to Palantir. For people who asked how we could give away nuclear weapons in 1995, it feels similar to me," she shared.

According to a Fire Point representative, Palantir "has been collecting all possible data for 15 or 20 years and has been sponsored by the US government and certain oligarchic structures."

"Our military data exchange systems are now operating on this system. That is, we have connected everything we have, all our Ukrainian developments, to the Palantir cloud. And every unit of data from the battlefield is at the disposal of an American company. And we understand that they were bought at an extremely high price. We are transferring it just like that," noted Iryna Terek.

She sees the only justification for this situation as Palantir providing an ecosystem in which all this data can be properly accounted for, but in her opinion, this is not an equal exchange.

"If we had our own infrastructure ready at that time, we could have avoided this. But this is an example of what Ukraine could have earned, and what it could have kept in the country, added high value to it, and exported abroad, we simply dumped," Terek complained.

Previously, Fire Point’s chief designer and co-owner Denis Shtilerman called for a review of cooperation with Palantir due to their agreement with Nebius, created by the co-founder of Yandex.

As dev.ua wrote, former Minister Mikhail Fedorov announced the launch of a new Defense Tech company with the support of Palantir CEO Alex Karp.
