"The drone threat has gone beyond the battlefield." DoD Solution and Estonian Defsecintel to combine technologies to counter drones: what's the deal?

Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company DoD Solution and Estonian Defsecintel Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding during the MSPO 2026 exhibition in Kielce, Poland. The document envisages expanding cooperation in the development of drone detection and countermeasure technologies for defense, border protection, and critical infrastructure.

As part of the collaboration, the companies integrate two complementary technologies:

  • EIRSHIELD from Defsecintel is a multi-level detection, command and control system based on AI, as well as the integration of system components into a single loop.
  • AURA AI and AURA SBC on-board computer from DoD Solution are an autonomy platform for unmanned systems that provides visual navigation, final stage homing, and autonomous mission execution.

The goal is to create integrated, full-cycle solutions that combine drone detection with controlled interception and minimization of associated risks, particularly in environments where this is critical.

The companies note that drone attacks are already one of the main security challenges for Ukraine, and the threat is increasingly spreading to Europe, especially to NATO’s eastern flank. This creates demand for integrated, multi-level countermeasure systems, rather than individual point solutions.

DoD Solution CEO Roman Gapachilo noted that Ukraine’s experience has shown the need for an integrated approach to countering drones, and that combining Defsecintel’s capabilities with DoD Solution’s airborne autonomy technologies will allow for the creation of more effective detection and interception systems — and the application of this experience to respond to Europe’s security challenges.

Defsecintel representative Janus Tamm added that the threat from drones has gone beyond the battlefield: critical infrastructure, borders and public spaces require controlled response tools suitable for use in civilian environments, and that cooperation with DoD Solution creates the basis for solutions applicable in different countries in Europe.

In addition to classic military scenarios, the companies are considering the use of joint solutions for critical infrastructure protection, public safety, border protection, and emergency response. The plans include joint tests and demonstrations in Estonia, Ukraine, and other European countries, as well as participation in specialized tenders and programs.

DoD Solution is an Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company that develops on-board computers and autonomy systems for unmanned platforms. Its flagship product AURA AI combines its proprietary software with the AURA SBC on-board computer for autonomous navigation, target acquisition, recognition and tracking, and terminal guidance in conditions of GPS absence, electronic countermeasures, and limited communications.

Defsecintel is an Estonian defense technology company that creates integrated solutions for counter-drones, automated surveillance and unmanned systems. According to the company, it offers the only fully automated counter-drone solution in Europe, from detection to interception, and its approach is based on operational experience in Ukraine since 2022 and proven in four consecutive NATO counter-drone exercises.
