A Ukrainian woman created an app for finding friends: one acquaintance per day instead of an endless feed. How it works 22:22
The 22:22 app has been launched in the App Store, a service for finding girlfriends (not romantic dates) for women, created by developer Anastasia Chaykovskaya. The idea for the name is based on the belief that you can make a wish at 22:22; the team decided that this is also a good time to meet someone new.
The 22:22 app has been launched in the App Store, a service for finding girlfriends (not romantic dates) for women, created by developer Anastasia Chaykovskaya. The idea for the name is based on the belief that you can make a wish at 22:22; the team decided that this is also a good time to meet someone new.
How it works
Every evening at 10:22 PM, the user receives a notification and is shown one person — a photo, a place of residence and a few sentences about themselves, written in their own words. Then there are only two actions: "Get to know each other" or "Skip". If both parties choose "yes", a chat opens, where the application immediately suggests common topics for conversation. If someone refuses, the other party will not find out about it, and the next day at 10:22 PM a new offer will appear.
The selection of a partner is based on a questionnaire about values, pace of life, personal boundaries, and ideas about friendship; the photo is shown after completing the questionnaire, and not as the first and main criterion.
What is deliberately missing here?
The authors of the application describe 22:22 by denying the usual mechanics of dating applications: there is no feed that you can scroll through for hours, a catalog of profiles with search by parameters, a "who liked you" function and paid "spying", as well as a typical set of ten photos — there is only one photo in the profile.
Security and privacy
The application is designed exclusively for women. You can complain from any screen — three independent complaints automatically suspend the account; you can block another user without explaining the reasons, after which the users will no longer see each other among new acquaintances or in chats. The application does not require either email or phone number to register — only a nickname and password.
Geography and status
Currently, 22:22 operates only in Kyiv and the region — the team wants to make acquaintances through the app turn into real meetings. Users from other cities can specify their location during registration: the developers promise to announce the opening where there is demand.
The application is available only for iPhone (requires iOS 16.4+), is free, has no ads or in-app purchases, and weighs 53 MB. In the App Store, 22:22 has already entered the "Social Networks" chart (position 45) with a rating of 5.0 based on two ratings so far.
