A Ukrainian marketer has developed a menstrual cycle tracking app called Atta. Five months after its launch, 14,000 women have used it. How is it different from others?
«Plan your life, not just your period,» reads the Atta website. The app of the same name was created by Ukrainian marketer Zhenya Zimmerman, who currently lives in the United States.
«Plan your life, not just your period,» reads the Atta website. The app of the same name was created by Ukrainian marketer Zhenya Zimmerman, who currently lives in the United States.
The application is positioned as a solution with much broader functionality than standard «menstruation calendars.»
According to the app’s description on the App Store, Atta uses artificial intelligence to «decode» a user’s unique symptoms, and generates a personalized daily action plan and lifestyle advice related to nutrition, physical activity, and other factors.
Among other things, the app tracks menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal phases.
«You are unique, and your app should be too. Instead of giving you generic advice, Atta’s AI actually learns your personal norm. By tracking your unique symptoms, moods, and energy spikes, it offers lifestyle recommendations that match your specific biology and nature. No more forcing yourself to stick to a one-size-fits-all scale,» the description on the App Store states.
Atta comes in two versions — a completely free version for basic cycle tracking and period prediction, and Atta Unlimited (with a 14-day trial) which includes daily personal coaching advice, advanced personalization, and priority access to new features.
«This is a story about the ability for women to plan everything in advance»
The author of the application said in a comment to dev.ua that the idea to create Atta came to her in July 2025. According to Zhenya Zimmerman, for the past two years she has been actively researching the topic of women’s health and has been interested in how to combine her cycle with her work, training, and nutrition schedule.
«But I couldn’t find any suitable applications for this. Because even though the market is large, it is divided into two categories: simple trackers where you can mark your periods and symptoms, or libraries with general advice for every day. The problem with both options is that they don’t cover the problem when you’re feeling unwell today and you want to understand what to change right now, and what will help you,» she explained.
The marketer says that every woman has different energy levels and symptoms on different days of the month, so knowing how you’ll feel in advance makes it easier to plan. «This is a story about women being able to plan ahead,» she says.
Thus, Atta combines personalized advice, cycle planning, and advanced condition and day tracking.
Lovable to help. Details of creating an application
According to the author of the app, after the idea came to her, she researched the market, interviewed 200+ women, and only then began creating an MVP.
She created the app herself, using AI. Considering that creating apps is not her specialty, the development, according to Evgenia, was quite a challenge, and at certain stages she involved outside specialists.
«I had 48 hours for the MVP because I did it as part of the Lovable hackathon for women in October 2025. Then I went to test it on the first users and realized that I wanted to move quickly, so I stayed with Lovable. But the same feedback made it clear that design is super important, so I hired a freelance UX/UI designer. And when I ran into security/privacy issues, I also hired a freelance developer,» Zimmerman explained.
In total, it took her five months to finalize the full version of the app, and at the end of March 2026, Atta became available to everyone in the AppStore in English.
Yevheniya says that she also wanted to make a Ukrainian version from the very beginning, but she didn’t have enough time for high-quality translations. However, Atta is now available in Ukrainian.
Currently, almost 14,000 women are already using the app, and according to the marketer, 90% of them came organically, without advertising costs. The app, she says, is already profitable thanks to subscriptions to premium features.
Plans to expand the team
Zhenya Zimmerman also shared plans to expand the team that will work on promoting this product. According to her, a month ago she started looking for a technical co-founder.
«Atta needs to develop rapidly and qualitatively, and I myself cannot ensure this from a technical point of view. We are currently working in test mode,» she says.
A part-time content creator and various specialists are also working with her on a project basis to promote the app.
She also has plans to expand her content/marketing team.
