The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official US dollar exchange rate above UAH 45 for the first time in history. On October 6, 2026, the American currency will cost UAH 45.0564 per $1.
According to official data from the NBU, based on the results of trading on the interbank foreign exchange market, the regulator weakened the national currency compared to the previous day, when the exchange rate was 44.9857 UAH per $1.
The current indicator remains within macroeconomic guidelines. In the state budget for 2026, the dollar settlement rate is set at 45.7 UAH. According to the European Business Association, company managers set an average rate of 46 UAH per $1 in their budgets.
Previously, the NBU assured that they had sufficient resources to maintain stability in the foreign exchange market. As noted by the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank, Serhiy Nikolaychuk, Ukraine entered the year with a record margin of safety.
“We have a good “safety cushion” — our international currency reserves, which at the beginning of 2026 reached almost $60 billion. This is twice as much as we had at the beginning of 2022,” the official emphasized.
