The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the Brave1 defense innovation cluster, is working to expand the use of drone group control technology. The technology of sequential autonomous flight of drones without the use of GPS is already helping to carry out logistical missions on the front.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense and Brave1.
This includes the "Pasika" system, developed by Brave1 cluster member Sine Engineering, a deep-tech company with Ukrainian roots. The system allows one operator to simultaneously control a group of 5 UAVs heading to a designated point. The lack of GPS binding and secure communication make the aircraft invulnerable to enemy electronic warfare (EW) devices.
To start a mission, the operator indicates the required area on the map, after which the system automatically calculates routes for the entire group and prevents collisions of the sides in the air. All drones are displayed on a single control interface: the operator can switch between them with one click and takes over control in manual mode only in the final minutes of the mission for reset or landing.
The technology developer, Sine Engineering, specializes in UAV autonomy, communication and navigation systems. According to the developers, they provide technological support to over 200 drone manufacturers in Ukraine, and their solutions provide the majority of active interception operations.
One of the first to systematically apply multi drone control technology for logistical tasks was the soldiers of the 108th separate assault battalion "Da Vinci Wolves" of the 59th separate assault brigade of unmanned systems named after Yakov Handziuk. Thanks to group control, the unit doubled the volume of delivered cargo in a month.
