The director of a private company from Kyiv faces up to 12 years in prison for fraud on a particularly large scale. The suspect was supposed to deliver 500 drones from abroad to a Ukrainian company that had an order from a state institution.
According to the investigation, in 2024, the businessman signed a contract for the supply of 500 UAVs with a Ukrainian company, the customer of which was a state institution. He promised to deliver the drones from abroad, for which he was paid UAH 28 million, the National Police reports .
The suspect received the money into his accounts, but neither the Ukrainian company nor the customer ever saw the drones.
The defendant converted part of the funds into foreign currency and transferred it to the account of a legal entity resident in Slovakia, and withdrew part of it through the accounts of fictitious enterprises.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway. Other individuals involved in the fraudulent appropriation of money are also being identified.
