Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the launch of a new decentralized network, Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network), which will use AI and the TON blockchain.
According to Durov during his speech at the Blockchain Life 2025 forum in Dubai, the project will be launched in November.
As Durov stated, «the world is moving in a strange direction,» and in recent years, «people have been losing digital freedoms,» so, in his opinion, the creation of decentralized technologies is the only way to preserve these freedoms.
According to the presentation, the network will be supported by GPU miners who will receive rewards in Toncoin (TON), and Telegram will provide the project with «demand and hype.»
It is also announced that software developers will gain access to inexpensive AI tools, while ordinary users will be able to use artificial intelligence anonymously.
Earlier, Telegram founder Pavel Durov reported that the company had issued 5-year bonds worth $1.7 billion at a 9% rate maturing in June 2030. At the same time, more than $950 million of bonds maturing in March 2026 were exchanged for a new issue.
In addition, Durov responded to the investigation by journalists who claim that Telegram uses infrastructure controlled by the FSB.
