Ukrainian miltech company Wild Hornets, which produces STING interceptor drones, has denied information from The Wall Street Journal about exporting its drones to the Persian Gulf countries. Wild Hornets assured that they are focused on supplying drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
WSJ, citing anonymous sources, reported that the world’s largest oil company, Saudi Aramco, is in talks with Wild Hornets to purchase interceptor drones to protect oil fields from attacks by Iranian UAVs.
According to the WSJ, Saudi Aramco is also in talks with Ukrainian SkyFall, which produces the P1-SUN drones. The oil producer is allegedly trying to secure supplies of Ukrainian interceptor drones as soon as possible, ahead of the Saudi government and regional competitors, including Qatar.
«We are indeed approached daily by many representatives from the Middle East and the European Union regarding the possible export of STING drones. However, our efforts are currently focused on cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Main Intelligence Directorate,» Wild Hornets said.
The company said that Ukrainian authorities are in talks about training operators and supplying drones, and Wild Hornets is ready to join the initiative. However, it is not currently in such direct negotiations.
«We maintain our interest in entering international markets, but we will take active steps after ensuring the needs of the Ukrainian defense forces and obtaining permission to export weapons from Ukraine and developing relevant rules in accordance with Ukrainian legislation,» Wild Hornets assured.
