“Middle and seniors should actively learn to work with the replacements for Juns — artificial intelligence.” SoftServe explained how AI is changing IT hiring
Artificial intelligence is already affecting the hiring structure in IT companies — and the Juners are the first to feel it.
Artificial intelligence is already affecting the hiring structure in IT companies — and the Juners are the first to feel it.
This was told to Forbes by Renata Delporte, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at SoftServe.
According to her, companies have started to be more cautious about hiring entry-level positions, since the tasks performed by Juns are the easiest to automate. «Juns do simple tasks — this is the first step to automation,» she explains. We are not laying off specialists, but we are not opening new vacancies either. We are hiring fewer coders. For example, Juns and sometimes middlemen. There is even a slight shortage for the remaining vacancies.»
According to Delporte, outsourcing used to be built on the principle of a pyramid: you take on a lot of Juns, some of them grow further. «This is a system that fed itself. Now hiring the most talented Juns can be considered an investment for the company. At the same time, middle and senior managers must actively learn to work with Jun substitutes — artificial intelligence,» the specialist explains.
At the same time, this does not mean that AI has already replaced humans. On the contrary, it is now often more expensive than an engineer.
«Today, AI agents are sometimes more expensive than a senior. Until they learn to work the way a particular company needs, they need to be serviced more than they actually bring in,» says Delporte.
Therefore, the development scenario is familiar: new technology first creates more work, and only then begins to take it away. For the industry, this means a change in roles. Middle and senior workers must learn to work together with AI as a tool that actually performs some of the tasks of the junta.
