"Burn in hell, discriminators. And thank God I don't mention names and company names." CEO of DAN.IT education quoted an ageist message from a recruiter looking for employees under 25. It is being hotly discussed by IT professionals
CEO DAN.IT education Ksenia Stolbova published a screenshot of correspondence in which a potential employer informed the candidate that they were looking for a specialist under the age of 25.

«What would I like to talk about? With you, not very esteemed, certainly nothing.» No, I’m not looking for a job. But many people are. And when I get such answers, somewhere in me another nerve cell dies. The 42-year-old person in me tells you that this is not normal. I don’t want people to be judged by age. And I will write about it endlessly. Burn in hell, discriminators. And thank you for not mentioning names and company names,» the outraged specialist noted .
Under Ksenia’s post, IT enthusiasts are vigorously discussing the topic of ageism in IT — over 200 reactions and almost 90 comments have been left there. We are publishing the most vivid ones.
Career coach Inna Kalinina notes that she understands when businesses want either young or mature people. «My client, a product director, was 48, and the average age in the company was 27. She told me how she felt lonely, misunderstood, unheard, and now she no longer despises the age mark. «I’m 45, and I have clients who are both 25 and 68. I see the difference in thinking, vocabulary, and values,» she noted.
«This is a classic for the Ukrainian market. I’m not surprised at all. Recruiters who support this are dishonoring our profession. Unfortunately, there is a lot of discrimination, they just do it more covertly,» said recruiter Viktoriya Mirkevych.
«Unpunished evil returns with more evil…», says data analyst Anton Sosnovsky.
But STO Yevgeniya Correia told about a mirror case with a client from Sweden. «I showed the candidate, and he asked her how old she was during the interview. The first feedback was: she’s too young (about 27 years old), what can she offer me with experience, let’s give her an older and local one. In Europe, 25 years old is still a child, who is not taken very seriously as a middle-class person, even at the level of specialists,» she said.
Я схоже отримував, на нульовому єтапі тобто переписування з рекрутером, тільки мені відповіли "у нас специфічні вимоги".
