Ukrainian company MacPaw, which created such popular Mac applications as CleanMyMac and Setapp, introduced Eney at CES 2025. MacPaw claims that he is more than just another AI assistant, and rather a friendly interlocutor or colleague. What are his capabilities?
As reported by 9to5Mac, Eney will have many features to make working with your Mac easier. The main ones are:
Eney will have all sorts of integrations with MacPaw products and third-party solutions. The assistant will exist as a small window on the Mac, and most tasks will be performed in the background, without the need to open applications in the foreground. Certain applications will be able to have miniature interfaces in Eney, if necessary.
The MacPaw team aims to build large-scale language models to handle Eney tasks on the device, although they are still in the early stages of development. For now, Eney will use cloud-based models.
«Unlike conventional AI assistants that rely on structured and clear queries, Eney can interact with users in a natural, casual conversation. You don’t have to phrase your queries in a certain way — Eney adapts to your way of communicating, making it more intuitive to use,» MacPaw Senior Product Manager told AIN.
MacPaw plans to launch Eney in late 2025, and you can sign up for a waiting list now. It is not yet known how much was spent on developing the product and how it will be monetized.
Previously, MacPaw CEO Oleksandr Kosovan said that the CleanMyMac program remains the company’s flagship and continues to generate 80% of revenue.
In November, Kosovan said he had to make " one of the most difficult leadership decisions " of his career, which led to the dismissal of 120 employees (20%).
