Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company DOD Solution announced the successful raising of $2.1 million in a pre-seed investment round. The funding will be used to develop and scale the AURA AI airborne autonomy platform, which enables unmanned systems to operate effectively in challenging electronic warfare (EW) environments.
Venture funds and investors from Ukraine, the EU, the USA and Canada joined the investment round, including Angel One Fund, Better Angle, Defence Builder Fund, Network VC, Newfund, UAID Fund, WildField Ventures, 4 °C-Next Holding AG and a number of business angels. The Canadian company Draganfly, a well-known developer of unmanned technologies, acted as a strategic investor, the company's press service told dev.ua.
AURA AI technology: autonomy without GPS and communication
The company's flagship AURA AI platform combines hardware - the AURA SBC on-board computer - and specialized software - AURA OS.
The system solves key tasks for modern drones:
autonomous navigation and orientation in conditions of complete GPS signal jamming;
automatic recognition, target tracking and terminal guidance even in the absence of communication with the operator;
universal integration: possibility of installation on FPV drones, interceptor drones and aircraft-type devices.
The AURA AI solution has already been successfully tested directly in combat conditions in Ukraine.
Development plans and access to NATO markets
The raised capital will allow the company to launch mass production of a new generation of AURA SBC on-board computers, improve the on-board AI algorithms in AURA OS, and accelerate the integration of the system with Ukrainian and international drone manufacturers.
The new generation of hardware is being developed in compliance with the strict requirements of the US NDAA standard. In addition, DOD Solution is building reliable component supply chains to scale and enter the European and North American markets.
"Autonomy should work across different unmanned systems and operating environments, rather than remaining a separate feature tied to a single platform. Our challenge now is to make AURA AI easier to integrate and scale, and expand its capabilities for increasingly complex onboard tasks. This round gives us the resources and partners we need to accelerate this development," said Roman Gapachilo, CEO of DOD Solution.
The company has already established a network of strategic partnerships with technology leaders, including Lantronix, Axelera AI, and Defsecintel Solutions, which provide AI computing acceleration and the creation of comprehensive counter-drone solutions.
