Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said he had offered the recently dismissed former Defense Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov the position of advisor.
«I called him the day after his release and said: would you like to come to Rome and work with me as an advisor?» Reuters quotes the Italian minister as saying in his interview with the newspaper La Repubblica.
When asked about Fedorov’s reaction, Crosetto said the former Ukrainian minister was «touched» and viewed the proposal as a «demonstration of respect and friendship.»
Crosetto also praised Fedorov as a driving force behind military innovation, calling him «one of those who completely rewrote the rules of the game on the battlefield.»
According to the Italian Minister of Defense, Fedorov helped Ukraine regain the initiative by changing the methods of conducting combat operations using new technologies.
We will remind that former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov received an offer from President Volodymyr Zelensky for the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Military Innovations. However, he refused it, stating that he was ready to return only to the position of Defense Minister.
Zelenskyy had previously said that he offered Fedorov «a worthy proposal in power that would allow us to unite the technological component of our state.»
After his resignation, Fedorov also stated at a briefing that Zelenskyy had offered him the position of presidential advisor — he also refused.
