Soldiers of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great conducted an atypical rescue operation, using a logistics drone to evacuate animals from a dangerous zone, the animal protection organization UA Animals reported .
At first, the drone performed its main task - delivering provisions and necessary items to the military to remote positions, but the return journey became a real rescue mission for the two four-legged friends.

The main reason for the evacuation was the fate of a cat, which one of the soldiers of the unit had been taking care of for a long time. After the soldier was wounded and hospitalized, his comrades decided not to leave his furry pet under fire. Together with the cat, a dog was also taken on board the "air taxi", which the soldiers also could not leave to their fate in the combat zone.
The animals successfully covered a distance of 12 kilometers. The cat and dog are currently under the care of the military in the rear area.
This is not the first time Ukrainian soldiers have rescued animals. Last fall, servicemen of the 13th Operational Brigade of the Charter National Guard took a cat named Prapor from the front line using a ground robotic complex (GRC).
