«We didn’t want to make this information public, but it seems like now is the time. Flamingo is a long-range cruise missile that can carry a 1,150-kilogram warhead and fly 3,000 kilometers to Russia,» Iryna Terek, CTO and CEO of Fire Point, told Politico.
According to her, the missile was created quite quickly — from the idea to successful tests on the battlefield, it took less than nine months. Terek did not disclose the speed of the missile, but said that it is currently the fastest missile completely manufactured in Ukraine.
Politico also published a video showing the launch of the FP-5 Flamingo for the first time, as well as footage of the flight of the FP-1 kamikaze drone and its destruction of Russian refineries, ammunition depots, and the production of «shaheeds.»
Earlier, Iryna Terek said that the rocket got its name because of the pink color on the first test samples. Then the color had to be changed due to the requirements of military camouflage, but the head of Fire Point noted that the Flamingo still has a «feminine touch» — a pink warhead on the top of the rocket.
«I would say this is a bit of a big dick energy moment. You don’t need a scary name for a rocket that can fly 3,000 kilometers. The main goal is for the rocket to be efficient,» Terek said.
She added that the company is monitoring the Russian reaction to the Fire Point strikes. According to Irina Terek, the more successful the mission was, the more the Russians tried to «suppress any publicity around it.»
Fire Point currently produces about one Flamingo missile per day, and the company hopes to increase its capacity to seven missiles per day by October. Mass production is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026.
