"FREYA will go live soon." Zelensky announced measures to quickly scale up Ukrainian alternative to Patriot
Ukraine, together with its European partners, will hold the first international meeting in France in the coming days dedicated to the practical launch of joint production of the Freyja anti-ballistic missile system. The event aims to involve state leaders, representatives of the defense industry, and European national security advisors to quickly scale up the project, which should become a more massive and cheaper analogue of the American Patriot complex.
Ukraine, together with its European partners, will hold the first international meeting in France in the coming days dedicated to the practical launch of joint production of the Freyja anti-ballistic missile system. The event aims to involve state leaders, representatives of the defense industry, and European national security advisors to quickly scale up the project, which should become a more massive and cheaper analogue of the American Patriot complex.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists. According to the head of state, the need to attract European industrial potential arose due to a critical lack of time and the slow pace of production of ready-made Western air defense systems.
Zelensky stressed that although Patriot remains the best means against ballistic threats, and Ukraine also counts on the supply of French new-generation SAMP/T NG complexes, the queues for these systems are drawn up for years to come. That is why the Freyja project is being built on the European model of cooperation with a focus on the operational deployment of production at the facilities of partner countries.
«Our task was to gather leaders, companies, national security advisors and present a relevant project to countries that can help Ukraine implement this project very quickly. If the leaders, their production capabilities, and their companies support FREYA, FREYA will begin to live in the near future,» the president noted.
