Future in Action engineering hackathon with a prize pool of UAH 270,000 is launching in Ukraine. It is focused on youth and technical solutions for the "city of the future"
Applications for the all-Ukrainian engineering hackathon for youth, Future in Action Hackathon, have started in Ukraine. Participants will develop technological solutions for the concept of the «city of the future» — Orbital City Lab, which combines engineering, modern technologies, programming, electronics, and artificial intelligence.

The event organizers from the Noosphere School of Engineering note that the key requirement for participating teams is not just to present a concept or idea, but to develop and demonstrate a real and working minimum viable product (MVP). During the competition, they will go through a full development cycle, using programming, working with sensors, microcontrollers, and AI tools.
The hackathon will take place in two stages:
Online stage: project development will last from June 26 to July 5, 2026. Teams of 2 to 6 people will create their MVPs.
Final: the best teams that will pass expert evaluation will meet on July 17–18 in Zhytomyr, where they will refine their solutions together with mentors and defend their projects before the jury.
«Now Ukraine really needs people who not only use technologies, but also are able to create them. That is why we are developing an environment where young people can work on real problems, test their ideas and turn them into working solutions. Such initiatives are designed not only to help participants gain new skills, but also to shape the future generation of young engineers, inventors and innovators,» said Serhiy Veretyuk, head of social projects of the Noosphere ecosystem.
For newcomers, a series of open lectures Pre-Event Meetup will begin on June 15, where they will talk about hackathon tools and technologies. The official announcement of specific engineering tasks and thematic areas will take place on June 26.
Youth under the age of 25 are invited to participate. The competition will be held in two categories: Junior League (under 18) and Pro League (18 to 25). The six best teams (three in each league) will share a prize pool of UAH 270,000. Detailed terms of participation and the registration form are available on the official website of the project.
