YouTuber Daniel (@ZONEofTECH) shared that the battery of his Samsung Galaxy Ring swelled on his finger and prevented him from taking it off while he was at the airport. He had to go to the hospital with the problem.
«Ahhh… this… is not good. The battery of my Samsung Galaxy Ring started to swell. And it’s on my finger. And I’m about to get on a plane. Now I can’t take it off and it hurts,» Daniel wrote on X (Twitter) and asked Samsung for advice.
He later reported that the ring was removed in the hospital and showed that the battery had indeed swollen noticeably.

Galaxy Ring is Samsung’s first smart ring, officially unveiled on July 10, 2024. It was created within the Galaxy / Samsung Health ecosystem, with support for sensors that allow you to monitor various health parameters.
At last year’s presentation, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Ring’s battery size (and therefore the time between charges) would vary depending on the size — from 14.5 mAh to 21.5 mAh.
However, more Galaxy Ring owners are now reporting that they are experiencing serious battery drain issues, Android Authority notes .
Complaints about the Galaxy Ring’s dwindling battery life have been piling up on Reddit and Samsung’s own forums over the past few weeks and months, with many users saying that their rings, which used to last for almost a week on a single charge, are now barely lasting even a day.
«I bought my smart ring in March '25. I bought it open boxed on eBay. Everything was perfect, only needed to be charged 1-2 times a week. Until last weekend it just stopped holding a charge, it seems to be draining faster and faster, and the case doesn’t hold a charge either. Strange,» wrote one Reddit user.
Other users have shared similar stories of sudden battery drain, with one reporting that his ring’s battery life dropped from five days to less than four hours within a month.

Some customers were able to file warranty claims, and Samsung reportedly attributed the issue to a battery defect in one case. The company provided some users with replacement rings and in some cases also offered refunds.
However, some users described long and tedious negotiations with Samsung support. One user said he was forced to accept a refund after the company refused to provide a replacement, which was allegedly «out of stock,» even though the ring was still available for purchase on Samsung’s website.
Many users say they regret buying the device. «I will never wear a smart ring again,» Daniel said.
