Gemini now automatically summarizes long emails
Gmail users no longer need to click an option to summarize an email using AI. Gemini will do it automatically when needed, without human intervention.

When Gemini launched in the Gmail sidebar last year, one of the features allowed users to summarize long emails, as well as use other tools like creating draft emails or viewing suggested replies, etc.
Now Google is using artificial intelligence to work with the mailbox, regardless of whether users want it or not, writes TechCrunch.
With new email summary cards, Gemini will list key points from longer emails and then continue to update this overview as responses come in.

Google notes that this feature will not replace the ability to manually click a button to summarize an email. It will still appear at the top of the email and in the Gemini sidebar in Gmail.
This feature is currently only available for English emails.
You can turn this feature on or off in Gmail settings under Smart Features. Workplace admins can also turn off personalization settings for users in the Admin console.
