According to the case file, the man was detained on March 22 on the outskirts of the village of Holma, Odessa region, near the border with Moldova. He and another person were trying to cross the state border on foot outside official checkpoints.
In a written explanation, the AIT resident informed the court that he was stopped by border guards while attempting to illegally cross the state border from Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, where he was heading to find work.
The court found that the programmer did not act alone — he used the services of people he found through acquaintances. For a monetary reward, they were supposed to help him organize an illegal exit from Ukraine. His companion, according to the case, was looking for the same services through Telegram channels.
The accused himself did not appear in court, but pleaded guilty in writing and asked to consider the case without him.
The court qualified the actions as an attempt to illegally cross the border by a group of people.
As a result, the man was found guilty and fined UAH 8,500. Additionally, he must pay UAH 665.60 in court fees.
The decision can be appealed within 10 days.
