Google has announced the launch of Mixboard, an AI-powered moodboard creation app that could rival Pinterest, which has a “collage” feature that lets users create moodboards from their favorite Pins and other images.
Google has announced the launch of Mixboard, an AI-powered moodboard creation app that could rival Pinterest, which has a “collage” feature that lets users create moodboards from their favorite Pins and other images.
However, with Mixboard, there’s no need to have a ready-made collection of images to search for ideas. Instead, users can start their own project by using text queries to have AI generate ideas, TechCrunch reports .
Pre-filled boards are also available that you can edit if you need a little help with the creative process.
Once the AI has created the images, you can ask the AI to make edits and other small changes, or even combine the images. This is done using Google's new image editing model, Nano Banana .
The service is initially available as a public beta in the US through Google Labs . A Discord community is also available.
Google notes that moodboards in Mixboard can be recycled: the “regenerate” option generates new ideas, and “more like this” creates similar images. The AI can also generate text based on the visual content on the board.
