Google adds Nano Banana AI generator to NotebookLM and Search
Google has announced the large-scale implementation of its advanced AI image generator Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, known unofficially as Nano Banana, into the company's key products.
Google has announced the large-scale implementation of its advanced AI image generator Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, known unofficially as Nano Banana, into the company's key products.
Gemini 2.5 Flash Image has created over 5 billion images since its launch in August, and is now available in Google Search, Lens, and NotebookLM. The company announced the update on its blog.
NotebookLM:
- Visual reviews with new styles;
- NotebookLM's Video Overviews feature (which turns uploaded documents and notes into narrated video overviews) has received a major update;
- New visual styles: Users now have access to six new styles for AI illustrations in videos: Watercolor, Paper Style, Anime, Chalkboard, Retro Print, and Heritage;
- Contextual illustrations: Nano Banana generates illustrations based on the content of documents and thus helps to better understand and remember the material;
- New Brief format: A short format for quickly getting to the main ideas of a source.
Google Search (Lens and AI Mode):
- The updated Google Lens (on Android and iOS) features a new Create mode, where users can instantly transform snapshots or selected photos using AI suggestions;
- Nano Banana allows you to not only edit, but also generate images from scratch using text queries.
As a next step, Google plans to add Nano Banana to the Google Photos app in the coming weeks, expanding the capabilities for editing and visually transforming personal photos.
