Google adds file analysis feature to free Gemini users, previously only available in the paid version
Google is expanding Gemini’s free tier with support for file analysis, a feature previously only available with the paid Gemini Advanced subscription. Now, all users can upload files and ask the chatbot to summarize the content or provide information about the documents. Supported file types include documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and code files.

Google is currently rolling out support for file uploads to the free Gemini tier on the web and mobile. As such, the feature may not appear in your account immediately. When it becomes available, you'll see a tooltip informing you of the change. If you click the "+" icon, you'll see a "Files & Drive" option appear alongside the previous "Camera" and "Gallery" options.
In addition to manually uploading a file, you can import a document from Google Drive via the web and Android app—this option is not available in the iOS app.
The following file types are supported:
plain text files: TXT;
code files such as: C, CPP, PY, JAVA, PHP, SQL, and HTML;
Once you've uploaded a document or file, you can ask Gemini to summarize its contents or ask it to analyze and draw conclusions. The former is useful for quickly reviewing large PDFs or documents.
Тест dev.ua
