This is reported by The Verge. As Google notes, these innovations are designed to solve the problem of excessive SEO optimization of traditional web results, which makes it increasingly difficult for users to find genuine reviews and live experiences.
The corporation is trying to encourage users to interact more often with AI Search tools instead of just browsing through a list of links. In particular, the AI’s responses will feature an «Expert Advice» section. It will contain not only quotes, but also additional context: the author’s name, nickname, or the name of a specific community.
«For example, if you search for information on how to take great photos of the northern lights, you might see quotes from a photography forum with advice on exposure, as well as active links — indicating the name of the specific forum — so you can jump to the full discussion,» Google explains the mechanics of the updated AI.
In addition to forum quotes, Google is adding more links to useful websites next to AI answers that don’t necessarily contain a direct answer but are relevant to the topic (for example, guide blogs when searching for cycling routes). There will also be a feature to highlight sources to which the user has a paid subscription, allowing verified media to better stand out in the general flow of information.
Google previously introduced a number of new features for its «Translator» that turn the service into an AI tutor and personal assistant.
