New AI tools for learning have appeared in Gemini and Google Search: how they will help students

Google has announced the launch of a range of new AI-powered learning tools, including interactive visualizations, 3D simulations, a dedicated student hub, and personalized tests.
This move was another attempt by Google to turn Gemini into the main AI assistant for students in the fight for the market with OpenAI and educational startups such as Knowt and Gauth, writes TechCrunch.
New features in Google Search
Interactive simulations and visualizations: Students can create custom visuals for complex topics. For example, a search for «pH scale» will bring up an interactive visualization in the AI Overview block. Additional refinements (e.g., placing citrus fruits on this scale) will allow AI Mode to generate a customized interactive.
Personalized quizzes and tests: Search can generate tests for anything from science to foreign languages. Just type in a text query like «create a test with the most popular words to prepare for the SAT.»
Interactive learning through Google Lens: In the coming weeks, Lens will be adding a problem-solving feature. By uploading a photo of the learning material via the camera in the Google app, the user will receive an explanation of the concept, error analysis, and tips.
Generate summaries from files: You can now upload PDFs, presentations, or photos of handwritten notes to have Search generate a concise document with key takeaways.
Updates in Gemini
Multi-step research reports in Gemini Live: The tool allows you to run complex research in the background. Once the work is complete, Gemini will send a notification and students can discuss the results via voice chat.
Functional 3D Simulations: Gemini has learned to generate three-dimensional models to better understand topics. For example, if you ask it to «show how DNA works in 3D,» the AI will create an interactive DNA structure that can be rotated and scaled.
Dedicated study hub: The Gemini app now features a single center with study tools where you can take notes, create flashcards, and take tests.
Google is rolling out new features (3D simulation generation, on-demand quiz creation, advanced note generation, and problem analysis via Google Lens) initially only for the English-language interface.
Additionally, Google has launched a new promotion for US college students, offering them a free one-year subscription to Google One AI Premium (featuring the AI Pro plan), which typically costs $20 per month ($200 per year). While this seems like an attempt by the company to boost Gemini usage, the offer comes with a significant extra perk—5TB of cloud storage.
The subscription includes quadruple the usage limits in Gemini, access to the Spark agentic platform, and Gemini integration within Workspace services like Gmail and Docs.
Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
