Google is updating Chrome, adding an assistant based on the Gemini 3 model to the browser. The new features should help you work with tabs faster, edit images right on the page, and delegate some routine actions.
According to Google, Gemini in Chrome now opens in a separate sidebar and remains available regardless of the active tab. The company explains that this makes it easier to compare options across sites, summarize reviews at a glance, or find free «windows» in a busy calendar without having to switch between dozens of tabs.
Another new feature is Nano Banana integration: the user can change images on a web page using text prompts without downloading files to disk and re-uploading. Separately, Google added Connected Apps: Gemini in Chrome can interact with Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Shopping, and Flights to pick up context and help with multi-step scenarios.
The most «agentic» feature is Chrome auto browse: in preview, it can perform a series of actions on websites, including filling out forms or collecting travel data. For sensitive steps, such as purchases or posting on social networks, the tool stops and asks for confirmation. Chrome will also support the Universal Commerce Protocol, an open standard for agent commerce that Google is developing together with partners.
Google says that Gemini in Chrome is currently available in the US on Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus, and auto browse is gradually opening up in the US to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. In the coming months, the company promises to bring Personal Intelligence to the browser, a mode that will store the context of previous queries and only work after the user voluntarily connects the desired applications.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Chrome browser for iPhone and iPad began to receive built-in integration with the Gemini chatbot: users can call the AI from the address bar to briefly retell a page, generate an FAQ, or reformulate a complex topic.
