Among these new tools is a designer agent, which, like many other coding tools, will generate the desired interactive prototype based on a map based on text prompts, writes TechCrunch.

Once you've created your code, you can export it, test a preview of your project using your own API keys if needed, or modify your project in Firebase Studio.
This same tool has a built-in styling agent that allows you to create custom maps that fully match your chosen style or theme. This allows brands to design maps with the desired color scheme.
Google already provides mapping data tying through the Gemini API. Now, the company is introducing a similar feature — Grounding Lite — that allows developers to tie their own AI models using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that gives AI assistants access to external data sources.
This feature will allow AI assistants to answer questions like, “How far is the nearest grocery store?” The company is also releasing Contextual View, a low-code component of Google Maps that can provide users with a visual understanding of the answers to such questions. The feature can show a list, a map, or a 3D image as the answer.
Google is also introducing a toolkit for the Code Assistant, the MCP server, which connects to the Google Maps technical documentation. This connection will allow developers to get answers to questions about using the API and Google Maps information. Last month, the company already launched an extension for the Gemini command-line tool so that developers can access Maps data.
